2008 In a Nutshell
(stolen from my lovely friend Melissa in CA's blog)
1. What did you do in 2008 that you'd never done before? Bought land, met with an architect, built a custom home. 2008 was all about the house (dont tell the kids).
2. Did you keep your new year's resolutions, and will you make more for next year? I dont make em I would just break em.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth? Since I work in a NICU thats a trick question.
4. Did anyone close to you die? :(...Our beloved Bulldog.
5. What countries did you visit? Countries, does the new land of snakes and scorpians that we moved to count as a foreign country?
6. What would you like to have in 2009 that you lacked in 2008? Downtime.
7. What dates from 2008 will remain etched upon your memory, and why? Sept 30, 2008 the day we moved in!
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year? Selling our old home in this crappy market. We barely squeaked out of that one.
9. What was your biggest failure? Trusting a "friend" to do work on our new home.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury? Nothing more than some hurt pride.
11. What was the best thing you bought? Best. This house... Best score...getting up on Black Friday to go score a 50 in Plasma for hubbys "man-hole."
12. Whose behavior merited celebration? I loved McCains concession speech. Especially this part: "Americans never quit. We never surrender. We never hide from history. We make history. Thank you, and God bless you, and God bless America..."
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed? Oh dear can it be Brit???
14. Where did most of your money go? We are living in it!
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about? The fact that my hubby and I realized that we were each others best supporters when the whole world seemed against us during the build.
16. What song will always remind you of 2008? Music, you mean a song other than the joyful screams of living with a 2 and 4 year old.
17. Compared to this time last year, are you: a) happier or sadder? b) thinner or fatter? c) richer or poorer? ...arent we all???
18. What do you wish you'd done more of? Just sat down and watched my kids grow instead of just go, go, go!
19. What do you wish you'd done less of? $$$
20. How did you spend Christmas? In our new home surrounded by family. It was lovely.
21. Did you fall in love in 2008? I have been in love!
22. What was your favorite TV program? Hmm, Nip or Greys, Greys or Nip...
23. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year? Hate is an ugly word.
24. What was the best book you read? Read, who has time to read. Does Perez count?
25. What was your greatest musical discovery? Since our son really doesnt like the sound of song there isnt much around here.
26. What did you want and get? Everything we wanted we made happen.
27. What did you want and not get? A stress free, screw up free build.
28. What was your favorite film of this year? LOVED Sex in the City. So what if it was the ONLY movie I went to.
29. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you? Good question...I turned 37, and Brenna wrote me my first card (see early blog July 08).
30. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying? Not to have gotten scammed at our 2nd closing.
31. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2008? Survival.
32. What kept you sane? My family.
33. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most? Fancy??? None that I can think of.
34. What political issue stirred you the most? I loved following the election even if our team didnt win.
35. Who did you miss? From 08: Kana...
36. Who was the best new person you met? Best person. I cant name one.
37. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2008. Never do business with your "friends." I use that term so loosely. Never buy into another persons success. Theirs isnt yours.
